Breast biopsy, one side, MRI guided
A breast MRI-guided biopsy is a diagnostic procedure for obtaining a small portion of tissue for the evaluation of a breast mass. An MRI uses a strong magnet and high-end imaging technology to take very detailed pictures that allow the evaluation of the anatomy of the breast tissue. You may be injected with a dye called gadolinium that allows for better characterization of the target. Your doctor will use this MRI to guide the biopsy procedure, which is done under local anesthesia through a very small incision. You will be asked to lay on a special bed and your breast will be placed on a grid to guide the biopsy.
